All-City Junior Concert Band
The Junior Concert Band is made up of more than 30 members – mostly grades 9 and 10 students in their second and third years of playing with older students from grades 11 and 12 who are also in Senior Band and some adult community members too. All Junior Band students are enrolled in band (either in Junior Intensive Class after school or in Band Class during school time) and are from either Porter Creek, FH Collins or St. Francis of Assisi Secondary Schools (this coming year we are also hoping to have students from CSSC Mercier join us). By the end of each school year, Junior Concert Band musicians have played in two concerts at the Yukon Arts Centre and have been part of our Elementary School Tours. This past year, All-City Junior Concert Band was invited to The Nationals MusicFest in Toronto and came home with a Silver Award 🎉 If you are interested in joining our Junior Concert Band, either as a student or adult community member, come along to our first rehearsal and information meeting on Wednesday 4th September 2024, 6:15pm - 8:15pm in Porter Creek Secondary School Band Room (rehearsals after Winter Break will be at FHC Secondary School) or get in touch through our email: allcitybandwhitehorse@gmail.com
All-City Junior Concert Band rehearses every Wednesday night from 6:15pm to 8:15pm in either Porter Creek Secondary School Band Room (before Winter Break) or FH Collins Band Room (after Winter Break). The Directors have made every effort to balance the parts, to play music between grade 2 – 3.5 levels and to keep the musical style varied (from Marches to Musicals, Jazz to Rock). On top of performing at the Yukon Arts Centre in December and May, this Band also tours outside the Yukon to perform in Band Festivals.
